From Dirt to Dollars – The next generation of sustainable farming

“Agriculture is the most healthy, the most useful, and the most noble employment of man” – George Washington
Sustainability has become the new “buzzword” for agriculture, yet nobody knows what this word defines. As primary producers we are the original stewards of the land and for us to not treat it with respect would be harming our own future. But what happens when the outside consumers and regulators start to tell us what it looks like to be sustainable?
From dirt to dollars identifies how as primary producers we have already taken steps to become sustainable in all aspects of our operation. Not just environmentally as others would choose to define, but also economically, rurally, and industrially sustainable. How we have something to lose in this argument. The truth is, one of the only external factors that cannot be risk mitigated, is bad policy, and it has now arrived at our front doors. Are we ready to tell our story?
