Dollars and Dirt Guidebook and Workbook

A practical learning series focused on the three biggest decision areas on the farm: Money. Land. Equipment.
This work started when Annessa Good-Hassard and her husband moved home as successors and began using Annessa’s Dad’s ratios and formulas to make sense of their own numbers. It completely changed how they looked at their operation and shaped how Annessa supports families through financial and transition planning today.
For those who may not know him, Annessa’s dad, Merle Good is a well-respected agricultural consultant in Alberta, known for his expertise in farm business and taxation, and is a recipient of the Wilson Loree Award for his contributions to agricultural business management.
The Dollars & Dirt Series brings together:
Merle’s decades of financial ratios, proprietary formulas, and practical farm tools
Annessa’s focus on translating those tools into plain-language, farm-ready resources that help families build shared language around their numbers
Together, it essentially acts as a “check-engine light” framework for farm financial clarity.
